The number one thing that I did consistently when I just started my lash business even up til now (almost 4 years later) is retouch every single photo I've ever posted so that it was aesthetically pleasing to look at. Never did I post a "raw"/un-retouched photo because truth be told, it just looks boring. 

If you want to attract more followers/clientele, you'll need to have nice photos so you stand out amongst the thousands of lash artists out there. Instagram and social media in general are all about visuals. You would't even click to read the caption if what was posted didn't captivate you visually first. Even as consumers ourselves, we are attracted to visually pleasing things so why wouldn't you do the same with your work.

Photo-editing made simple. 

I have zero background in anything photography or editing related. I figured out how to retouch skin and other things by playing around on different photo-editing apps and figuring out what each tool does. The steps I take to edit my photos are SO SIMPLE but make such a huge difference and the best part is..you ONLY need your phone to do this. It doesn't have to be this huge ordeal to retouch a photo. It should only take you 15 minutes or less to edit one photo and I will show you how.
